Description:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is medium gauge knitted jumper in a cropped, wide silhouette.
The whole jumper is knitted in 2 strands of yarn A and 1 strand of yarn B held together. It is knitted from the bottom up on straight needles, and assembled at the end. Stockinette stitch is used for the whole jumper, other than the ribbed edges. The front and back necklines are both shaped by working the 2 shoulders separately using decreases. The sleeves are balloon shaped, so the increases occur gradually above the rib. The shoulders are joined, and finally, the stitches around the neckline are picked up and knitted in 1×1 rib stitch in the round, before being finished with a tubular edge. The arms are then attached to the body, and the side seams and underarm seams are sewn together in one go.
